Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, education, technology and professional services. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, Perhentian, Pangkor and parts of Sabah, although many hospitality jobs are based on the mainland or in larger resort towns. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in tourism and business. Island life is generally relaxed and outdoors-focused, with beaches, diving, local food and community festivals, but transport and healthcare can be more limited than in major cities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or another approved work permit before starting work. Relocation usually involves employer support, medical checks, document verification and suitable accommodation planning. Check current Malaysian immigration rules and the specific resort's benefits before accepting an offer.
