Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare and abundant dining and shopping options. Housing and daily expenses can be high, particularly in central districts, so applicants should compare salary with accommodation costs. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and approval depends on qualifications, salary and prevailing government criteria. Employers normally guide candidates through the application process. New arrivals should arrange a valid pass, accommodation, health insurance where required and a local bank account before starting work.
