Job Description

The Junior Sous Chef supports the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef in managing daily kitchen operations for Western cuisine. Requirements typically include professional culinary training, several years of experience in a hotel, resort, or quality restaurant, strong knowledge of Western cooking techniques, food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards. The successful candidate should be able to supervise chefs and commis, coordinate food preparation and service, maintain consistent quality and presentation, control wastage, and help manage stock and costs. Flexibility for shifts, weekends, and public holidays is expected. Leadership, teamwork, organization, creativity, and the ability to remain calm during busy service periods are important.
