Company Info

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, residences, and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. Its properties are known for personalized service, refined dining, wellness facilities, and strong destination experiences. In the Philippines, Shangri-La operates established hotels and resorts, including properties in Manila, Cebu, and Boracay. The company places emphasis on genuine hospitality, professional development, teamwork, and high standards in guest service and food quality. Employees may receive benefits such as service charge, meals, uniforms, medical coverage, training, and discounted stays, although the exact package depends on the property and employment contract. A banquet Sous Chef can expect a structured hotel environment with opportunities to work on large functions and progress toward senior culinary leadership.

Destination Guide

The Philippines offers culinary and hospitality opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Davao, and other resort destinations. Hotels, restaurants, cruise-related businesses, and event venues regularly seek chefs, kitchen supervisors, and experienced service staff. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented, and community-focused, with English widely used in workplaces. Island living can offer warm weather, beaches, outdoor activities, and a relaxed social lifestyle, although traffic, seasonal weather, and varying infrastructure are practical considerations. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate employment visa, commonly involving a Department of Labor and Employment permit and a 9(g) work visa; requirements can change, so confirmation with the employer and Philippine authorities is important. Relocating staff should arrange authenticated documents, medical checks, accommodation, insurance, and a clear contract covering salary, service charge, meals, transport, and leave.
