Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers many opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hospitality workers may find roles in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants and event venues, particularly on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and in airport districts. The city has a fast-paced, international culture, excellent public transport, diverse food and convenient urban services. Accommodation can be expensive, so many employees share flats or live in areas connected by the MTR. Eligible overseas professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer; employers usually provide the contract and supporting documents, while applicants must meet immigration requirements. Some roles may qualify under the General Employment Policy, but approval is not automatic. New arrivals should arrange housing, an Octopus card, medical insurance and a local bank account, and confirm whether the employer provides meals, uniforms, transport or staff accommodation.
