Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a highly connected international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport, diverse dining and a fast-paced professional culture. Hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, aviation and security offer regular employment opportunities, particularly in luxury hotels and commercial properties. The lifestyle combines dense urban neighbourhoods, beaches, hiking trails and vibrant arts and nightlife. Cantonese is the main local language, while English is widely used in business and hotels. Overseas applicants normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa and must meet immigration requirements; the employer usually supports the application. Arrange accommodation, health insurance, banking and transport before arrival. Rental costs can be high, so many newcomers share housing or live farther from the city centre. Hong Kong’s subtropical climate is warm and humid, with typhoons during summer.
