Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Malacca and other resort destinations. Front-office professionals can find work in luxury hotels, beach resorts, serviced residences, restaurants and tourism businesses, although competition is strongest for international brands. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with English widely used in hotels and tourist areas. Lifestyle costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is convenient and urban, while Langkawi and Penang offer a more relaxed island or coastal setting. New arrivals should expect warm, humid weather, excellent food and generally affordable daily living outside central Kuala Lumpur. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process. Candidates should confirm eligibility, contract terms, accommodation, medical coverage and tax obligations before relocating.
