Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, business services, and offshore operations. Major hospitality markets include Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and Davao. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, English-friendly, and service focused. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, with beaches, diving, festivals, and affordable local food among the main attractions. Living costs are moderate, although central Manila and popular resort areas can be expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly arranged with support from the hiring company; working before approval is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, tax, healthcare, insurance, transport, contract terms, and whether service charge is included. Weather is tropical, with a dry season and a wetter typhoon season, so location-specific planning is advisable.
