Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, education and tourism. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, diverse hawker food and plentiful parks. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central districts, so many employees choose shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass. Professional roles may qualify for an Employment Pass, while eligible mid-skilled positions may use an S Pass; approval depends on salary, qualifications, occupation and government requirements. Employers normally guide applicants through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, healthcare and deposits, and check employment terms, benefits and relocation support before moving.
