Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic international city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hotel jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the airport area, with English, Cantonese and Mandarin commonly used. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences, while the lifestyle offers excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking and vibrant neighbourhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, so many employees share accommodation or live farther from work. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting a job; approval depends on a genuine offer, suitable qualifications and market salary conditions. Residents should arrange accommodation, insurance and budgeting before relocating. Hong Kong's efficient MTR network makes commuting practical across the territory.
