Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, the New Territories, and surrounding islands. It offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology, and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, while daily life is fast-paced, highly connected, and generally safe. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails, beaches, and a lively arts and nightlife scene. Housing can be expensive, particularly near central business districts, so many workers choose areas with convenient MTR access outside the core. Overseas employees normally need an appropriate work visa before starting employment; the employer generally supports applications under Hong Kong employment schemes, subject to qualifications, salary, and approval. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking, and an identity card after arrival. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and international workplaces.
