Company Info

Founded in 1971, the group is recognised for warm Asian-inspired hospitality, high service standards and distinctive properties in major cities and resort locations. Shangri-La Hong Kong is one of the group’s flagship properties, offering luxury accommodation, restaurants, event facilities and comprehensive guest services. Employees may benefit from structured training, international career opportunities, hotel discounts and exposure to a multicultural hospitality environment.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, fine dining, catering, cruise services, retail and tourism, making it attractive for experienced culinary professionals. Cantonese food culture is central to daily life, while international restaurants and multicultural communities are widespread. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, shopping, hiking trails and nearby beaches. Housing can be expensive, so employees should compare staff accommodation, allowances and commuting options before relocating. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by their Hong Kong employer; approval depends on qualifications, experience, a confirmed job and proof that the role is genuine and appropriately paid. Applicants should arrange passport validity, medical or background documents where required, insurance and a local bank account. Hong Kong uses the Hong Kong dollar and English is widely used in business, although Cantonese is valuable in kitchens and guest-facing roles.
