Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with a strong hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail and business-services economy. Job opportunities are available in hotels, restaurants, attractions, events, wellness, technology and finance, although employers usually prioritise candidates with relevant skills and work authorisation. The culture is multicultural, organised and fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is efficient, healthcare is high quality and the city is generally safe, but accommodation and daily expenses can be relatively high. Singapore has a tropical climate, excellent shopping and dining, green parks, beaches and easy access to nearby Asian destinations. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility, salary and government approval. Research housing, taxes, insurance and relocation costs before accepting an offer.
