Destination Guide

Indonesia offers opportunities for hospitality professionals across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort destinations. Luxury hotels and restaurants regularly recruit chefs, especially those experienced in Chinese, Southeast Asian, international and resort cuisine. Bali is popular for its international community, beaches and active tourism lifestyle, while Jakarta provides a larger urban market and stronger business-hotel sector. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect, community and religious diversity; modest, considerate behaviour is important. Living costs vary considerably, with Bali and Jakarta generally more expensive than smaller cities. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, an approved work permit and the appropriate limited-stay visa, commonly arranged through the hiring company before employment begins. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical cover, tax, relocation support and return travel in the contract. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly useful for daily life and team communication.
