Destination Guide

The Maldives offers resort-based opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, marine activities, engineering, wellness, finance, and training. Resort islands provide a very different lifestyle from Malé or inhabited local islands: accommodation, meals, recreation, and transport are often provided, but work can be demanding and the setting is remote. Maldivian culture is predominantly Muslim, so respectful dress and behaviour are expected, particularly on local islands; resort islands are more relaxed but still follow local laws. English is widely used in tourism, while Dhivehi is the national language. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and a valid Employment Approval or work permit before starting work. Employers commonly arrange flights, medical checks, insurance, and accommodation, though terms vary. Before relocating, confirm contract details, leave, internet access, transport, visa processing, and whether the position is based in a remote atoll.
