Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort islands. Bali is the most internationally oriented destination, with strong demand for guest relations, front office, food and beverage, wellness and events professionals. Java, particularly Jakarta and Surabaya, provides more corporate and city-hotel roles, while Lombok and the Gili Islands focus mainly on leisure tourism. Local culture values politeness, community, religious diversity and respectful dress and behavior. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities, with generally affordable food and transport, though popular areas can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship, a suitable work permit and a limited-stay visa before starting work; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm accommodation, health insurance, tax, relocation support and permit responsibilities directly with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
