Destination Guide

Spain’s islands, including the Canary Islands and Balearic Islands, offer strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, bars, tourism, customer service, maintenance and watersports. Fuerteventura is known for its beaches, surfing, relaxed lifestyle and year-round mild climate, while tourism is the main source of work. Island culture combines Spanish traditions with local Canarian heritage, outdoor living and a welcoming international community. Housing can be limited and comparatively expensive in popular resort areas, so arranging accommodation or shared housing is advisable before moving. EU, EEA and Swiss citizens can work with registration and the required local paperwork. Non-EU candidates generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and visa before starting employment. A Spanish tax number, social-security registration and health coverage are normally required.
