Destination Guide

Spain's islands offer strong employment opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, guest services, sales, marketing, wellness and outdoor activities. The Canary Islands, including Fuerteventura, are known for year-round tourism, volcanic landscapes, beaches, surfing and a relaxed international atmosphere. Fuerteventura has a slower pace of life than larger destinations, with outdoor activities, local markets and a strong expatriate community, although a car can be useful outside resort areas. Spanish is important for daily life and many employers also expect English; German and other European languages can be valuable. EU citizens can live and work with registration, while non-EU applicants generally need an employer-supported work permit and residence visa. Relocating usually requires a passport, employment contract, accommodation, health coverage and administrative registration. Rental availability and seasonal prices should be checked before moving.
