Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state and a major hub for pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, engineering, logistics, finance and technology. Job opportunities are strongest for candidates with technical qualifications, GMP experience, engineering skills, data capabilities and international workplace experience. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally professional, with English widely used at work alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy regional travel. Housing can be expensive, especially near central business areas, so newcomers often compare rental locations along MRT lines. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government eligibility rules; employers normally handle the application. Relocating workers should budget for rent, deposits, healthcare, transport and possible schooling costs, and confirm visa terms before accepting an offer.
