Destination Guide

Indonesia offers diverse career opportunities in banking, technology, logistics, tourism, manufacturing, education, and digital businesses. Java, especially Jakarta, is the main commercial center and provides the widest range of professional roles. Bali is popular for tourism, hospitality, creative work, and remote professionals, while Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi offer opportunities in energy, agriculture, mining, plantations, and regional commerce. Indonesian culture values community, respect for hierarchy, hospitality, and religious diversity. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to quieter coastal and island communities. Living costs vary greatly, with Jakarta and Bali generally more expensive. Foreign nationals normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm immigration requirements, health insurance, housing, taxation, and local registration before arrival. Bahasa Indonesia is essential for daily life, although English is common in multinational workplaces and tourist areas.
