Destination Guide

Malaysia is not a single island destination; it consists of Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia on Borneo, together with attractive islands such as Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, and Perhentian. Kuala Lumpur and nearby Selangor offer the strongest opportunities in banking, technology, shared services, consulting, manufacturing, and professional services. Penang is known for electronics, engineering, tourism, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while Johor benefits from links to Singapore. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in business. Living costs are moderate compared with Singapore, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval requirements depending on salary and role. Relocating candidates should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking access, and transportation before arrival. Malaysia offers good food, warm weather, modern cities, and easy regional travel.
