Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, cybersecurity, compliance, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and tourism. Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are the main employment hubs, while Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak also attract international professionals. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous cultures, with varied food, festivals, and languages. Urban life is generally convenient and affordable compared with Singapore, although central Kuala Lumpur housing can be costly. Malaysia also provides beaches and islands such as Langkawi, Tioman, Perhentian, Redang, and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Foreign professionals normally require an employment pass sponsored by their employer; qualifications, salary, and role approval are relevant. Families should consider international-school fees, healthcare access, transport, and neighbourhood safety before relocating. English is widely used in business, while learning basic Malay helps with daily life.
