Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, information technology, tourism, engineering, logistics, finance, healthcare, and education. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the broadest employment market, while regional cities offer opportunities in manufacturing and services. The island has a warm tropical climate, diverse landscapes, affordable local food, and a friendly, multicultural society. Sinhala and Tamil are official languages, while English is widely used in business. Lifestyle options range from busy urban living to quieter coastal or hill-country communities. Foreign nationals generally need an employment visa or residence approval sponsored by the employer; working without the correct authorization is not permitted. Relocating employees should confirm visa procedures, medical requirements, accommodation, taxation, insurance, and employment terms before arrival. Public transport is inexpensive, though traffic can be heavy. Healthcare and international schooling are more accessible in Colombo, where living costs are usually higher than in other parts of the island.
