Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel, manufacturing, technology, finance, tourism, logistics, business services, and customer support, with Colombo serving as the main commercial centre. The country has a warm tropical climate, diverse food, strong family and community traditions, and a culture influenced by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and colonial heritage. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although housing and international schooling can be expensive in Colombo. English is widely used in professional workplaces. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa or residence approval sponsored by an employer before working legally; requirements should be confirmed with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. Relocation is easiest with employer support for documentation, accommodation, healthcare, and banking. Public transport is affordable, while private transport is more convenient outside major cities.
