Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island with strong opportunities in technology, telecommunications, finance, healthcare, logistics, professional services and digital media. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work and in daily life. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, reliable healthcare, shopping, diverse food, green spaces and easy access to nearby destinations in Southeast Asia. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, so newcomers often compare renting a room with leasing an apartment farther from the city centre. Foreign professionals generally need an employment pass or another work pass sponsored by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and experience. Relocating candidates should budget for accommodation, transport, insurance and initial deposits, and confirm pass arrangements before arrival.
