Destination Guide

For Qatar-based offshore work, the main hubs are Doha and the industrial ports of Ras Laffan and Mesaieed rather than a traditional island destination. Offshore opportunities include deck foremen, crane and lifting crews, rig mechanics, marine coordinators, HSE specialists, welders, engineers, and logistics personnel. The workplace culture is multinational, hierarchical, and strongly focused on safety, punctuality, and respect for local customs. Employees commonly live in employer-provided accommodation and work rotational schedules, allowing extended time off between trips. Qatar has hot summers, modern facilities, and limited public alcohol consumption outside licensed venues. Foreign workers generally need employer sponsorship, a work visa, medical checks, and document attestation; tourists cannot work legally. Confirm visa responsibility, offshore medical certification, flights, accommodation, insurance, and rotation before relocating. Arabic is official, while English is widely used offshore and in business.
