Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, technology, finance, healthcare and engineering. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in food, festivals and everyday life. The lifestyle is convenient, safe and highly connected, with efficient public transport, modern healthcare, shopping, beaches and abundant dining options. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many employees share apartments or live farther from the city centre. Foreign workers normally need employer-sponsored permission to work, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility, salary and government approval. Before relocating, confirm the contract, accommodation support, medical coverage, taxes and pass arrangements with the employer. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and budgeting are important.
