Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance and technology. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, neighbourhoods and diverse food scene. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, with excellent public transport, healthcare and plentiful shopping and dining options. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially near the city centre, so accommodation and benefits should be checked carefully. Foreign employees generally require an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. New arrivals should arrange a local bank account, mobile service and suitable accommodation. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
