Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally welcoming, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food, shopping, parks, and easy regional travel. Housing can be expensive, so newcomers often compare room rentals, shared apartments, and employer-provided accommodation before moving. Employment visas are normally arranged by the employer. Hospitality staff may require an S Pass or Work Permit, depending on salary, qualifications, nationality, and prevailing government rules; approval is not automatic. Applicants should confirm the contract, working hours, accommodation, medical benefits, leave, and visa arrangements directly with Shangri-La. Singapore has a warm, humid climate throughout the year and a fast-paced but convenient urban lifestyle.
