Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, finance, shared services, technology, manufacturing, healthcare, and tourism. For an island lifestyle, Penang combines historic George Town, beaches, good food, and a strong expatriate community; Langkawi is quieter and tourism-focused; Sabah and Sarawak offer resort, nature, and adventure work. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences. Daily life is generally affordable, although Kuala Lumpur and popular islands can cost more. English is widely used in workplaces, while learning basic Malay is helpful. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and should secure approval before starting work. Employers commonly guide applicants through immigration, but verify qualifications, contract terms, accommodation, transport, insurance, and tax obligations. Island locations may have fewer services and seasonal employment, so check commuting, healthcare, and long-term housing before relocating.
