Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Its culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, excellent food and major festivals such as Lunar New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival. Life is convenient but fast-paced, with efficient MTR transport, dense urban neighborhoods, hiking trails and nearby beaches. Housing is expensive, so many employees share apartments or live in areas outside Central. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa and must secure an approved job before starting work; eligibility depends on qualifications, experience and salary. Employers may assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa, insurance and accommodation arrangements directly. Hong Kong's climate is hot and humid in summer, with typhoons possible, and winters are mild. Cantonese is dominant, while English is widely used in hotels and business.
