In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates respected city hotels and resort properties, serving business travellers, holidaymakers, families and event guests. The company places considerable emphasis on genuine hospitality, personal service, teamwork and professional development. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, island resorts, spas, restaurants, tourism, aviation and retail, especially in Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and coastal resort areas. Its culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences reflected in food, festivals, religion and daily life. Lifestyle varies from busy, affordable cities to relaxed beach communities; tropical weather, excellent cuisine and comparatively low living costs are major attractions. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit, and approval must be secured before beginning work. Requirements vary by nationality, salary, qualifications and position, so candidates should confirm details with Shangri-La and Malaysian authorities. Relocation costs, accommodation, transport, medical coverage and staff meals should be clarified in the offer. Malaysia is generally welcoming, but newcomers should respect local customs, dress appropriately in religious settings and prepare for heat, humidity and seasonal monsoon weather.
