Guest Relations Officer

Malaysia Shangri-La MYR 2,500–4,000 per month*
Job Description

The Guest Relations Officer welcomes guests, manages enquiries, handles feedback and complaints, coordinates special requests, and helps ensure a smooth luxury-hotel experience. Candidates should have hospitality or customer-service experience, strong English communication skills, a friendly and professional manner, and good knowledge of local attractions. Additional languages and experience with hotel property-management systems are advantageous. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, along with excellent grooming, problem-solving ability and attention to detail. Shangri-La expects the successful candidate to represent the hotel warmly, protect guest confidentiality, work effectively with other departments, and consistently deliver personalised service.

Company Info

Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties are known for personalised service, comfortable accommodation, destination dining and high standards of guest care. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates several recognised hotels and resorts in locations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and other tourism destinations. The company places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, employee development, teamwork and creating memorable guest experiences. Depending on the property, employees may work in a fast-paced city hotel or a resort environment with international visitors, leisure travellers, business guests and families.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in luxury resorts, hotels, restaurants, tourism, events and guest services, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Sabah and coastal resort areas. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hospitality. Island life is generally relaxed, with beaches, outdoor activities and a lower cost of living than Kuala Lumpur, although transport and imported goods may cost more. Employers normally arrange the appropriate work authorisation for foreign employees; a valid employment pass and approved sponsorship are required before starting work. Local hires should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, medical coverage and service-charge arrangements. Relocating staff should check housing availability, weather conditions, healthcare access and airport connections before accepting an offer.
