Company Info

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group is known for its service culture, comfortable properties and focus on warm, personalised guest experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-known city hotels and resort properties, supported by teams in accommodation, food and beverage, engineering, wellness and guest services. A Preventative Maintenance Associate would typically work behind the scenes to keep guest rooms, public areas, plant equipment and resort facilities safe, functional and well presented. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in resort engineering, hospitality, food and beverage, housekeeping, tourism and guest services, especially in destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island life can be relaxed and community-focused, with a multicultural society shaped by Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions. Expect tropical weather, local markets, seafood, beaches and outdoor activities, although transport and entertainment may be more limited than in Kuala Lumpur. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or other approved work authorisation; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers may assist with permits, flights, accommodation, meals or transport, but this varies by contract. Before relocating, check passport validity, medical requirements, insurance, taxes, housing costs and whether your salary is sufficient for the location. Langkawi and Penang offer established expatriate communities, while smaller resort islands may provide quieter living and fewer services.
