Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, and education. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, clean, efficient, and convenient, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Public transport is excellent, and food ranges from affordable hawker centres to premium restaurants. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, and occupation. Employers normally handle much of the application process. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the pass category, medical requirements, housing costs, tax obligations, and employment benefits. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and housing air-conditioning are important.
