Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, modern island nation offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, and retail. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages, food, and everyday life. The city is clean, safe, efficient, and well connected by public transport, although accommodation and general living costs can be high. Popular leisure activities include exploring hawker centres, gardens, museums, beaches, and nearby islands such as Sentosa. Foreign workers generally need employer-sponsored authorization, commonly an Employment Pass or S Pass, depending on qualifications, salary, and prevailing government criteria. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget carefully, arrange suitable accommodation, understand local employment rules, and secure appropriate health and travel insurance.
