Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, revenue management, food and beverage, events and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and Johor. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hospitality workplaces. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many international destinations, although Kuala Lumpur and popular resort islands can be more expensive. Langkawi, Penang and the Sabah islands provide beaches, nature and a relaxed lifestyle, while cities offer better transport and career progression. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval and documentation handled through the company. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm accommodation and insurance, and check current Malaysian immigration requirements before relocating.
