Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, technology, finance and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Daily life is safe, clean and highly convenient, supported by excellent public transport, reliable services and diverse food options. Housing can be expensive, particularly near the city centre, so many workers choose shared accommodation or areas well connected by the MRT. Singapore is warm and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, subject to government eligibility rules and quotas. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, medical coverage and deposits, and confirm accommodation and visa arrangements before relocating.
