Destination Guide

The Philippines offers hotel and resort opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol, Davao and other tourism destinations. Engineering professionals are in demand for resorts, business hotels, hospitals, malls and residential developments, although competition is strongest in major cities and established island destinations. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented and community-minded, with English widely used in workplaces. Island living can provide a relaxed lifestyle, outdoor activities, beaches and a lower cost of living than many international markets, but transport, healthcare and utilities may be more limited in remote areas. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly involving a Department of Labor and Employment permit and a 9(g) employment visa. Employers usually assist with documentation; confirm requirements before relocating.
