Job Description

The Lifeguard is responsible for supervising swimming pools and designated water areas, enforcing safety rules, responding quickly to emergencies, and providing first aid or rescue assistance when required. Candidates should hold a recognised lifeguard and CPR/first-aid certification, be physically fit, confident in the water, and able to remain alert for extended periods. Previous experience in a hotel, resort, pool, beach, or leisure facility is advantageous. Company Info

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts, and related properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and North America. Its properties are known for attentive service, comfortable accommodation, dining, wellness facilities, and family-friendly experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates established city and resort hotels, including destinations in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah, and other tourism markets. The company places emphasis on genuine hospitality, guest safety, employee training, teamwork, and professional development. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and employment contract, but resort roles may include staff meals, accommodation, transport, service charge, uniforms, and access to hotel facilities. A lifeguard would typically work closely with recreation, security, engineering, and guest-services teams.

Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied island destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Redang, Perhentian, Tioman, and parts of Sabah. Hospitality work is common in resorts, hotels, restaurants, diving centres, wellness facilities, and tourism services, with stronger seasonal demand during school holidays. Life on an island is generally relaxed and community-oriented, with beaches, water sports, local markets, and seafood, although transport, healthcare, shopping, and nightlife may be more limited than in Kuala Lumpur. Malay, English, and several local languages are widely used. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality, role, and immigration approval. Candidates should confirm accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover, visa costs, contract length, and service-charge arrangements before relocating.
