The F&B Banquet Coordinator supports the planning and delivery of meetings, weddings, conferences and other banquet events. Requirements typically include a diploma or equivalent experience in hospitality, food and beverage operations, or event coordination; strong organization, communication and guest-service skills; and proficiency in English. Experience with banquet administration, function sheets, scheduling, billing coordination and hotel operating systems is advantageous. The successful candidate is expected to coordinate closely with clients, kitchen, service and sales teams, maintain accurate event details, assist with setup planning, respond promptly to changes and help ensure that events meet Shangri-La’s service and presentation standards.
Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The group is known for personalized service, comfortable accommodations, destination resorts and strong food and beverage offerings. Shangri-La properties commonly provide rooms and suites, restaurants, banquet facilities, meetings and events, recreational activities and wellness services. In Malaysia, the company has operated prominent properties serving both business and leisure travelers. Its workplace culture generally emphasizes guest care, teamwork, professionalism and attention to detail. Employees may benefit from structured hotel training, exposure to international hospitality standards and opportunities to develop across operational and supervisory roles.
Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Langkawi and Penang are especially attractive for hotel, banquet, restaurant and tourism careers, with a relaxed coastal lifestyle, diverse food scene and strong cultural mix. Workplaces are multicultural, and English is widely used in international hotels, alongside Malay and sometimes Mandarin or other languages. Living costs vary: resort islands can be more expensive for housing, while public transport and amenities are generally better in larger cities. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or other approved work authorization before starting employment; requirements depend on nationality, salary and role. Employers usually guide the application process. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, contract terms and relocation support before accepting an offer.
