Job Description

The Secretary - F&B Services supports the Food and Beverage department with administrative and coordination duties. Typical requirements include strong communication and organisational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, accurate document and record management, and previous secretarial or hospitality experience. Fluency in English is generally required, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable in Hong Kong. Professional presentation, discretion, attention to detail, reliability and the ability to work under pressure are important. Experience in a luxury hotel or food and beverage operation would be an advantage.

Its Hong Kong properties include Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La, serving business travellers, leisure guests and major events. Shangri-La places emphasis on guest care, professional development, teamwork and responsible business practices. Employees may benefit from working in a multicultural environment with structured hotel operations and opportunities to build careers across food and beverage, rooms, events and corporate functions. For a Food and Beverage Secretary, the company offers exposure to a busy luxury-hospitality setting, supporting restaurants, banquets, bars and related administrative operations.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong Island offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, finance, retail, tourism, technology and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality, although Cantonese is highly advantageous. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, compact neighbourhoods, mountain trails, beaches and a world-famous dining scene. Accommodation is expensive, so applicants should budget carefully and consider areas connected by the MTR. Overseas employees normally require an appropriate employment visa, commonly sponsored by the employer under the General Employment Policy; eligibility depends on qualifications, experience, salary and a confirmed job offer. Employers may assist with applications, but approval is handled by Hong Kong Immigration. New arrivals should arrange housing, health coverage, banking and an identity card after arrival. Hong Kong is not technically an island-only destination, but Hong Kong Island is its central urban area.
