Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, destination spas, wellness centres and resorts, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and coastal destinations. Langkawi is a relaxed island known for beaches, nature and resort employment, while Penang combines heritage, food and a more urban lifestyle. Malaysian culture is diverse, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in tourism workplaces. Living costs are moderate, though island accommodation and imported goods can be expensive. Public transport is strongest in major cities; island life may require a scooter or taxi. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or relevant work permit, and should not begin work on a tourist visa. Confirm sponsorship, accommodation, medical checks, tax, contract terms and relocation costs directly with the employer before travelling.
