Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, technology, finance, logistics and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and urban: public transport is efficient, healthcare is high quality, food choices are extensive and housing can be expensive, especially near central areas. Singapore has a tropical climate, with hot, humid weather and frequent rain throughout the year. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Employers normally submit the application, while approval is handled by the Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should budget for accommodation, transport, deposits and initial living expenses before relocating.
