Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and education. Its hotel sector attracts international workers, although supervisory roles can be competitive and employers generally prioritize candidates with relevant experience. Singapore is multicultural, safe and highly organized, with English widely used at work and in daily life. The lifestyle is convenient, but accommodation and dining costs can be high; public transport is excellent and commuting is straightforward. Popular areas include Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and the heritage districts of Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications and Ministry of Manpower requirements. Relocating workers should budget for rent, deposits, insurance and everyday expenses, and confirm housing and pass arrangements before accepting an offer.
