Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, attractions, retail, aviation, finance, technology and healthcare. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, modern healthcare, efficient services and diverse food options. Housing and everyday costs can be high, especially in central areas, so accommodation and benefits should be reviewed carefully when accepting a role. Singapore has a tropical climate with year-round heat and humidity, frequent rain and no distinct winter. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an S Pass or Employment Pass, subject to salary and eligibility requirements. Employers usually manage the application. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, transport access, banking and medical coverage before relocating.
