Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Melaka and major beach destinations. Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah provide an island or resort lifestyle, with warm weather, beaches, seafood, outdoor activities and a more relaxed pace than the cities. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with English widely used in hotels. Living costs vary: Kuala Lumpur is generally more expensive, while regional resort locations may offer staff meals, accommodation or transport. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the employer usually manages the application and approvals before work begins. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, probation terms and relocation support in writing. Malaysia is well connected by air, but island living can involve seasonal tourism, fewer services and limited transport, so budgeting and practical planning are important.
