Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel finance, front office, food and beverage, engineering, sales and resort operations, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other tourist areas. Island living in Langkawi, Penang or parts of Sabah can be relaxed and affordable, with beaches, tropical weather, diverse food and a multicultural community. Malaysia blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, and English is widely used in business and hospitality. Living costs are generally moderate, though island accommodation and imported goods can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with the company handling much of the application process; approval depends on salary, qualifications and immigration rules. Candidates should confirm housing, healthcare, transport, tax, flights and work-permit terms before relocating.
