Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic international city made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport and a strong hospitality and events sector. Job opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, banqueting, tourism, retail, finance, technology and international business. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels and Mandarin is increasingly useful. Life is fast-paced, urban and convenient, with outstanding dining, shopping, hiking, beaches and efficient rail and ferry connections. Foreign employees usually need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer, and should not begin work before approval. Candidates should budget carefully for relatively high rent, arrange accommodation and health coverage, and verify employment terms, visa sponsorship and relocation support before moving.
