Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, finance, retail, technology, logistics and professional services. The culture blends Chinese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, nightlife and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live in areas with good MTR connections. Overseas employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment visa, supported by a confirmed job offer and proof that the role and salary meet immigration requirements. A valid passport, qualifications and work experience may be requested. Dependants can generally apply for dependant visas. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage and a Hong Kong bank account, and confirm visa and tax details before relocating.
